Upper Tile Puzzle (view: looking southeast away from the entrance)
Upper Tile Puzzle (view: looking northwest towards the entrance)
  • Walk up the ramps and talk to Foxpaw.
  • Optional: If you're going to attempt the machine optional, do it now. Foxpaw's lab is destroyed later in the quest, making the puzzle uncompletable.
  • The puzzle has two steps:
  • First, pull "That Lever" on the second floor, and solve a tile puzzle on the ground to light all five runes simultaneously (careful of all the traps.)
  • Second, solve a simple mirror and tile puzzle in the rafters, and watch the machine blow up.
  • After this, a Steam Elemental spawns on the ground floor. Kill it for the optional XP and the chest.
  • Pull the lever behind Foxpaw to open an exit to the basement.
  • Leave the house and head straight across the open area and into a tavern.
  • Speak to the "Thug" near the bar to initiate a bar fight. If you like, you can step outside for a minute and let most of the monsters finish each other off.
  • After this, talk to the Sahuagin Guide (in a booth against the north wall), who agrees to lead you to the Conch.
  • Follow him (generally south) to "The Maw of the Devourer".
Into the Maw
  • These caverns consist of three sections: an underwater spike course, a short tunnel with more spikes and then bear traps, and then a collection of shirt side-caves containing monsters. The spikes can be quite deadly, be careful.
  • Randomly in this underground segment are three required crests; an axe, a scimitar, and a trident.
  • Optional: A forth crest, the hammer, is behind a secret door. The hammer is optional, and will open the way to Greigur d'Deneith and a shrine later on.
  • Known required crest locations:
    • Underwater, at the very beginning or in a hole
    • Underwater, in or just after the spikes
    • On the wooden decking
    • Scorpion cave
    • Gator cave
    • Rust monster cave
  • Go west to slot with the crest sockets. Buff up before slotting the final crest – the first mini-boss, the Raptor of Unusual Size, is behind this door.
Pirates!
  • Beat down the red-named raptor and speak to the injured elder – pirates have broken in and swiped the conch!
  • Head out, fighting off pirates and axe-wielding skeletons on that level.
  • Optional: If you have the hammer crest, use it to open a door (just to the north) to a rest shrine and a balcony where you can speak to Greigur d'Deneith.
  • Greigur will ask you to speak to Yorrick Amanatu and Graden Wylkes. Both of these are found later on your route.
  • Now climb the stairs, keep going upwards and fight pirates across the rooftops. You'll eventually get to a large roof with several groups of pirates and raptors – kill the orange-named Very Important Pirate to drop the barrier blocking your way.
  • Next is a small drop-down (or run along the side roofs and range the mobs below).
    • Optional: Yorrick Amanatu is just at the end this section on a red roof, behind a group of pirates fighting guards.
  • Drop further down at the north end of this area.
The Finale
  • One more big dropdown; Graden Wylkes is in the courtyard, with a couple of other Harbor NPCs.
  • Foxpaw's house is full of raptors and on fire. Ignore it, and head east into the warehouse.
  • The back door of the warehouse leads further east to a pier where the pirates' ship is docked. Clear pirates off the main deck, then head to the bow to confront the Dread Pirate Roberts.
  • Talk to Foxpaw and the Sahuagin Elder. Afterwards, pick up the conch and scroll to finish the quest.

Trivia

  • The names of the two bosses in this quest are references to the book and film The Princess Bride.
  • On its launch, accessing this quest mistakenly required access to Masterminds of Sharn. This was patched out the following day.
