Tips and Misc

You begin in a restricted version of the Sharn Docks, next to a boat with the Codex of the Infinite Planes in the hold.
- Most of the interesting stuff in the docks is blocked off by crates, but there is a working Device Workstation for trapmakers.
As you go to check on the hold, a giant rat bursts out and runs off carrying a Mysterious Remnant. This leads to a short chase to a tunnel leading to Sharn's sewer system.
In the sewers, you will be faced with standard sewer vermin like oozes and spiders, as well as a new type of monster: Cranium Rats. Notably, orange- and red-named Cranium Rats have an ability that greatly increases their defensive capabilities while other Cranium Rats are nearby – killing the rats will reduce and eventually eliminate this effect.
You will soon reach a room with a tile puzzle. Above this room, there is another cranium rat ambush and a secret door.
- The door leads to a locked chest next to a pipe opening. At the end of this pipe, through a spinning fan (mind out for slashing damage) is the chest's key. There is also a lever to deactivate the fan on your way back.
After this area is a peaceful zone inhabited by the Quiet Folk, a society of sewer-dwelling Goblins. The tribe's Leader will warn you about a nearby Otyugh that is polluting their water supply.
- Another locked chest, this one pickable, is in the top-right corner of the room.
Be careful at the next intersection: the door at the end of the left corridor will immediately aggro a red-named Otyugh when opened without any warning. Heading right leads to a section with a boss fight against a Cranium Rat called Templeton; after you win this, a portion of the floor collapses.
- This fall is not a point of no return – use the valve at the bottom to activate a jet of air if you need to get back up.
- The thin tunnel to the north leads to another optional fight, this time against a Crocodile.
Finally, you enter the throne room of King Algernon, who agrees to return the Remnant to you if you rid his tribe of some nearby monsters. The Right Cavern contains two Umber Hulks, while the Left Cavern is full of fire traps and a Gelatinous Cube.
- Once this is done, return to the King, take a dimension door back to the docks, and speak with Zarnoth to finish your quest.
