Description
Emitting a small amount of light and warmth, these specially traded Eberron dragonshard fragments are the key to many advanced crafting recipies.
Purified Eberron Dragonshard Fragments (PEDs or PEDFs) come from several sources. They can be found as a rare item in chest loot, collectable nodes or treasure bags, but the easiest source of PEDs is trading other items to Crafting Hall vendors.
Trades
As the description states, PEDFs can be acquired from ...crafting vendors within the Crafting Hall(s) in exchange for a variety of expensive and rare objects.
Speak to any vendor in one of the Crafting Halls. Choose the I would like to trade essences option, drag/drop your item(s) (one at a time) into the "ingredients" slot, agree to the trade by highlighting the appropriate exchange above, and make the exchange. You will get a number of PEDFs depending on what item you place in the barter slot...

Since PEDs are Bound to Account and only used in crafting, if you are not a crafter, you may want to keep any unbound sources of PEDs and sell them or trade them to a crafter. The unbound sources of PEDs are usually what crafters use as payment for the PEDs they are going to use to craft you an unbound item, as crafting unbound items consumes PEDs.
Unwanted tomes can also be traded in for Purified Eberron Dragonshard Fragments from crafting hall vendors.
