Introduction

A Saga is a group of quests or even story arcs that characters can complete for an additional end-reward. When running these quests, you will receive a number of "points" towards your reward based on what difficulty you run quests on. More points equal a greater end reward, and/or a wider variety of rewards to choose from.

The Saga giver has several dialogue options which explain both Sagas in general, and that particular Saga chain.

Rules of Sagas

If you speak to the Saga giver, they will explain the "Rules of Sagas":

• You must complete all quests in this Saga to receive a reward. The quality of your reward depends on the difficulty that you completed each quest on.
• Quests can be played in any order and are counted automatically.^†
• You do not have to speak to the Saga giver or return to them between quests.
• Once all the quests have been completed, speak to (that) NPC for your reward.

  † If you completed any quests before talking to the Saga giver, you will still automatically be given credit for those quests. It is easily possible to complete the entire Saga before speaking to the Saga giver.

Saga progress persists through Lesser and Epic Reincarnation, but not True or Racial. There is no limit on how many times you are allowed to repeat a saga.

As of Update 50, The Pirates of the Thunder Sea (Heroic), Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh, Fables of the Feywild (Heroic), and Isle of Dread (Heroic) enforce the 100 hour cooldown timer and no longer can be run every 24 hours.

No other sagas have timers and can be repeated immediately.

Earning Points

Points are awarded for the quests you complete and their difficulty level. Each separate quest is counted only once - at the highest difficulty you've completed it before the saga is completed. Thus, you can rerun quests you might have run at a lower difficulty previously before you finish the saga. Note that for any reward, you must complete all the quests listed for the saga (although there are ways to "skip" quests; see below).

Awarding points

• 1 point per Casual/Normal completion
• 2 points per Hard completion
• 3 points per Elite/Reaper^‡ completion

(‡ Reaper counts as "Elite"; there is no special/additional value for Reaper, regardless of the number of skulls)

Skipping quests

• VIP can skip one quest and count it as an Elite completion (worth 3 points)
• Anyone can pay 5 Astral Shards to skip one (quest and count it as an elite completion (worth 3 points)
  • You can do this bypass only once per run through each saga; i.e. you can only pay to skip one (1) quest/saga.
  • VIP can skip one quest for being VIP, and pay to skip another, for a total of 2 skipped.
• Anyone can pay 15 Astral Shards to increase the reward tier (from Elite to True Elite, for instance)
  • You can do this increase only once per saga; i.e. you can only pay to increase one (1) tier/saga.

Reward Tiers

Depending on the number of points you have accumulated, you receive your reward. There are four reward levels: Normal, Hard, Elite, and True Elite.

Earning Tiers

• For a Normal reward, you only need to have completed all the quests in the saga, on any difficulty.
• For a Hard reward, you need to have completed all the quests in the saga and have points equal to 1.75 × the number of quests in the saga, rounded down (or an average of "1/4 Normal, 3/4 Hard").

  (So, for example, if there are 13 quests in the saga, then you need a score of 22 (13 × 1.75 = 22.75). You could do this by completing 9 of the quests on Hard (18 pts) and 4 on Normal (+4 pts = 22), or by completing 4 of the quests on Elite (12 pts) and 1 on Hard (+2 pts = 14) and the other 8 on Normal (+8 = 22), or any other combination that adds up to at least 22 points.)

• For an Elite reward, you need to have completed all the quests in the saga and have points equal to 2.5 × the number of quests in the saga, rounded down (or an average of "1/2 Hard, 1/2 Elite").
• For a True Elite reward, you need to have completed all the quests on Elite difficulty (maximum points).

The quest giver keeps track of the quests you've completed, and the quests you have not; this list can be seen by talking to them and selecting the "Give me a list of your quests" option.

When you turn in the Saga, the quest count is reset, setting all quest completions in that saga to "0". You cannot start to accumulate quests again until you select your reward from the last completion. However, you do not have to wait for the cooldown period to start to accumulate quests again; the cooldown is merely a time limit on collecting the next reward for that Saga.

Reward lists

Example of a True Elite (Heroic) reward list

As your reward, you can select a single item from a randomly generated list – again, the higher the points total, the better your reward would be (and more tomes will be available to choose from).

A reward list consists of all of...

• Experience Gem (consumed automatically on acquire)
• Special high-value Guild Renown Gem¹ (consumed automatically on acquire)
• a selection² of 1 to 4 Skill tomes³ (Bound to Character on Acquire)
• Ravenloft Saga reward list can include 40 Vistani Talismans (Heroic) or Sentient Jewels (Epic) (Update 37)
• The main Masterminds of Sharn Saga reward list (not The Cogs') can include 3 Minor Artifacts, plus Sharn crafting ingredients.
• Standard reward-list possibility of a generic-value Guild Renown gem

Notes:

1) Guild Renown Gem Rewards are the same for all Sagas, regardless of Level range (and see comments below):

Normal = 5,000 Guild Renown Hard = 7,500 Guild Renown

Elite = 10,000 Guild Renown True Elite = 15,000 Guild Renown

If you are after Guild Renown, select this gem, never the generic-value one, which will always be worth far less (1,000 max for a "Legendary Victory")!

2) The number of offered skill tomes depends on your reward tier; a single tome is offered for Normal completion, increasing to four tomes offered on True Elite. You can select only one Tome, no matter how many are offered, but this prevents you from being stuck with a +1 Tome of Listen.

3) The lower-level range Heroic Sagas offer +1 Skill Tomes, while the higher-level ones offer +2 Skill Tomes. Epic and Legendary Sagas offer +3 Skill Tomes.

Effects that increase experience or renown gain (for example Experience Elixirs or Guild Renown Elixirs) also apply to saga end rewards.

Tip: A Guild Renown Elixir only needs to be active when collecting the reward. Complete multiple sagas over time, and drink an elixir just before collecting all the end rewards for maximum effect.

End rewards for some sagas occasionally include lesser standard renown bonuses, such as Heroic Deeds or Tales of Valor. These offer much less renown than the large "Guild Renown" gem option.

As of U55, there are a total of 12 Heroic Sagas and 15 Epic Sagas.

• Two sagas were released with the Shadowfell Conspiracy expansion, and an additional seven were added with U19.2.
• Update 22 added the Pirates of the Thunder Sea (heroic and epic) sagas.
• Update 37 added Mists of Ravenloft (Heroic) and Mists of Ravenloft (Epic) sagas.
• Update 42 added 4 Sharn sagas.
• Update 48 added 2 Feywild sagas.

• Update 55 added 2 Isle of Dread sagas.
• Update 61 added 2 Vecna Unleashed sagas.
