Tips and Misc

You enter the quest on the road by the northeast shrine.

  • A successful Concentration roll lets you talk with the giants; an unsuccessful one starts a fight. The first may give you a hint where Brawnpits can be found. When talking to the giants, select the "I'm looking for Brawnpits." option.
    • Option: (Concentration) I'm looking for Brawnpits. (Requires a roll of  ♦32Normal ♥36Hard ♠41Elite)
  • If the Hill Giant says "try looking by the river", he's to the west (see wiki map).
  • If the sleeping Hill Giant Shaman says "probably picking flowers by the aqueduct again", he's to the east under the aqueduct (see wiki map).
  • If the other Hill Giant Shaman says "probably gone for the hills again", he's to the south near Rowa's altar (see wiki map).
  • For the friendly giants optional, make sure to speak to all giants as early as possible, as nearby events may cause them to turn hostile or flee. You can only speak to the giant by the Fire shrine (Ouralon's shrine on the map) after giving that altar the correct answer (see Altars below.)
  • Once you've spoken with Brawnpits, wait for him near the cauldron in the center of the map.
Brawnpits locations1 ARCHIVE ME!
  • Down by the river just under the altar where the water elementals are located
  • Underneath the Aqueduct
  • In front of the altar by the wood spirits
    • Bug: Brawnpits currently often fails to appear in his campsite if he is found in any location other than the wood spirit altar, making the quest impossible to progress. This is due to be fixed in an upcoming patch.
Ingredients locations
  • Note: There have been reports that if you find all three ingredients before talking to Brawnpits, he never shows up to his tent and the quest cannot be completed.
  • Scorpion Stinger
  • In the eastern part of the map (aqueduct area).
  • Drops after defeating Mother Scorpion.
  • If you kill the mob before the quest is given by Brawnpits, the item might be unavailable.
  • Giant Skull Trophy
  • In the western part of the map (west of road, south of the waterfall).
  • Spawns Phaervrae Ichiom after picking up.
  • Driftwood Log
  • North of the waterfall, near the river (sometimes high over it, but on the edge of the cliff).
Altars
  • Four altars to Giant gods can be found around the map. You can speak to each altar and pray to a particular god; praying to the correct god makes the end fight a bit easier (see the next section) and deactivates patrolling water elementals (near Banor's shrine) and Wood Woads (near Rowa's shrine.) Getting all four gods correct completes an optional. Be careful not to select Step Away From the Altar or let the dialogue window time out. If you do, you won't be able to interact with that altar again, making the optional unachievable.
  • Air – Karrak the Final Guardian (by the frozen statue of the Stormreaver)
  • Earth – Rowa of the Jungle Leaves (on top of the small hill)
  • Fire – Ouralon Lawbringer (with the fire elementals)
  • Water – Banor the Bloody Spear (over the river with the water elementals)
  • Short version to copy into party chat: Air Karrak; Earth Rowa; Fire Ouralon; Water Banor
Drow at the gateway
  • Priestess Ionna (an old friend from the Red Fens) and a group of Vulkoorim Drow are making a pilgrimage through Sulatari lands, but a Sulatar Drow patrol is refusing to allow the Vulkoorim party into a graveyard. If you choose, you can intervene in the argument.
  • Siding with the Sulatari drow will start a fight against the Vulkoorim Drow, which is only useful if you're after kill bonuses.
  • Siding with the Vulkoorim drow starts a fight against the Sulatari Drow. This is useful for making the end fight a bit easier, as it will prevent Belraen Despiryn from appearing. It also makes most of the Vulkoorim Drow in the surrounding area passive, although not the scripted wave that attack Brawnpits's camp.
  • Attempting to mediate between the two groups requires a Concentration check. Succeeding will pacify the wandering Vulkoorim Drow but won't prevent Belraen from appearing in the end fight. Failing forces you to fight both the Vulkoorim and Sulatari Drow – be warned that this fight is much harder than fighting either group on their own!
Fighting Suziar
  • The end fight with Suziar is infamously difficult compared to other boss fights at this quest's level, as it pits you against two red-named bosses and ten trash mobs at the same time. Fortunately actions in the main quest can make it much easier.
  • Suziar is the sixth giant for both giant related optionals.
  • Each successful prayer at one of the Giant altars will cause the elemental spirit (or Wood Woad, in the case of the Earth shrine) to fight on your side, instead of against you.
  • Belraen won't appear at all if he's killed outside the gate, either by siding with Ionna's party or failing the check to mediate and fighting both groups.
  • Brawnpits' return is timed/scripted. If the end fight is still ongoing, he will assist you in the fight.
