The Underlane Assignment is the 3rd quest in The Soul-Splitter story arcStory arcs are chains of quests that make up a story line.

Overview

You're hot on the trail of the person in charge of the attack on the Warforged rally. Take the Wharfside Access Lift to the Underlane Investigation Area and track them down.

Known Traps

Trap DCs

  • Two blade traps on stairs leading down to a chest
  • One blade trap in front of this chest (no Control Panel)
  • Activating the red tile within the tile puzzle also activates three fire jets with a knockdown effect

Tips and Misc

  • Soarsleds must be used to find most of the crests. One crest is always at ground level and can be found without using soarsleds.

Walkthrough

  • Find the Torn Page in the room just to the north - do this first and before leaving the apartment block, otherwise you'll have to run all the way back after defeating the boss in order to get the quest to complete.
  • Check the area with three closed doors, then go through the water plant.
    • The orange named Malfunctioning Worker Construct optional is found here, but it does not spawn until after reaching the hideout, requiring you to come all the way back.
  • You pass through the Underlane in a 'S' shape. Each chokepoints are guarded by group of mobs.
  • The door to the hideout is at central south. Kill a pair of orange named and talk to NPC Triellin Ravenwing in front of the hideout.
  • Your goal now is to collect four crests to open the door to Taugh Ignath's hideout.
    • Each is guarded by one Underlane Gargoyle and some gnolls on sky sleds as well.
    • You need a Soarsled to collect crests which needs flying. But not all of them requires flying. Soarsleds spwan on instance and become available after talking to NPC.
    • The Underlane is divided into four quarters. Each quarter contains one crest, though the exact location is random:
      • North-East quarter: Sword (behind one of three closed doors east of the water purification system, can always get it before going through the water plant)
      • North-West quarter: Hammer (sometimes can be found on the ground level, fountain or bag-end, before reaching the hideout)
      • South-East quarter: Kukri (may be in sewers near the door which the crests open, or in some other places including the dwarven quater)
      • South-West quarter: Sickle (may be on very top of a building)
    • If you cannot find the crests, try spamming the "Select Next Interactable" keybinding as you fly around. It has a long range and can find the crests even if you don't have line of sight (although it picks up a lot of other junk as well).
    • The water purification system connects the North-East and North-West section
    • The North-West and the South-East sections are separated by a gate opened by two levers nearby.
  • Come back to the hidout door, place the collected crests in the sockets to open the door.
  • Open the doors to the left and right to rescue the Soul-Split Warforged.
  • Kill the boss further south and proceed to the torture chamber and end chest.

Optionals

  • Read the notes dropped on the ground:
    • Three are located before the water purification system.
    • One in the South-East quarter.
    • One in the final room after completing the quest.
  • Warehouse Optional, entrance just after leaving the water purification system.
    • Find the Iron Key a bit further in the quarter, or just pick the door.
    • Use the mirrors to direct the laser beam through the warehouse. The laser bean opens the doors to the side rooms.
    • The levers in the side rooms open the doors to move forward. If locked, solve the puzzles or just pick them.
      • The red gem tile in the floor puzzle room activates a trap in more than one way: A set of flame jet traps activate as well as a repeating knockdown effect, which together can be quite deadly.
  • Return to the water purification system to complete the "Defeat the Malfunctioning Worker Construct" optional.
  • To complete the "Defeat the Wandering Forgewraith" optional move into the sewers near the hideout entrance.
  • To get to the hidden Chest, you'll need to find and pull a lever in the South-West quarter (needs flying).
    • It's slightly south of the west exit of the South-West quarter.
    • The lever opens a gate high above the entrance to the Sewers. The chest and a collectable are inside.

The second half of this dungeon is actually the same locale as the previous dungeon, but in reverse.
